• Utah State men's basketball (10-1, 1-0) will play at Texas State (4-9, 0-1) on Monday, Dec. 31 at 3 p.m. (MT), before returning home and hosting Seattle (5-6, 0-1) on Thursday, Jan. 3 and Idaho (5-6, 1-0) on Saturday, Jan. 5, with both games being televised on KMYU at 7 p.m. USU will be facing the Bobcats for the first time ever, while it is 15-14 all-time against the Redhawks including a 10-4 home record, and 35-14 all-time against the Vandals including a 17-1 home record.

• Utah State posted a 1-0 record last week as it won its Western Athletic Conference opener at UTSA, 71-67. Junior guard Preston Medlin scored a season-high 24 points, while junior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield tied his season-high with 14 points and seven rebounds. Junior center Jarred Shaw added 11 points and nine rebounds. USU shot a season-high 62.2 percent from the field (28-45) in the game, including 45.5 percent from three-point range (5-11), but was just 10-of-21 (.476) at the free throw line. UTSA shot 39.1 percent (25-64), including 37.9 percent from behind the arc (11-29) and 66.7 percent at the line (6-9).

• Utah State women's basketball (4-8, 1-0) will host Texas State (6-5, 0-1) on Monday, Dec. 31 at 7 p.m., before playing a pair of road games at Seattle (4-6, 1-0) on Thur., Jan. 3 at 8 p.m. (MT) and at Idaho (3-9, 0-1) on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. (MT). USU is 1-0 all-time against the Bobcats, 0-1 all-time against the Redhawks and 10-12 all-time against the Vandals.

• Utah State posted a 1-0 record last week as it began Western Athletic Conference play with a 79-66 home win in overtime against UTSA. Junior guard Jennifer Schlott scored a season-high 24 points to go along with five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Senior guard Devyn Christensen added 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists, and fellow senior guard Jenna Johnson had 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Sophomore center Franny Vaaulu finished the game with eight points, 10 rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot. USU shot 40.0 percent overall (24-60), including 41.2 percent from three-point range (7-17) and a school record 96.0 percent at the free throw line (24-25). UTSA finished the game shooting 30.3 percent (23-76), including 29.0 percent from behind the arc (9-31) and 73.3 percent at the charity stripe (11-15).
