LOGAN, Utah - Utah State football seniors Zach Vigil and B.J. Larsen have been recognized by College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) following the team's 36-24 win over Wake Forest Saturday.

Larsen, a defensive end from Logan, Utah earned honorable mention Defensive Lineman of the Week accolades. The senior had four tackles in the game against Wake Forest, highlighted by a career-high three sacks for 21 yards. He also added one pass breakup and two quarterback hurries.

This is Larsen's second CFPA recognition in his career. He shares honorable mention recognition with Josh Banks (Wake Forest), Myles Garrett (Texas A&M), Ken Ekanem (Virginia Tech), while Missouri's Shane Ray was named the Defensive Lineman of the Week.

Vigil, a linebacker from Clearfield, Utah earned honorable mention Linebacker of the Week honors. He intercepted his first pass of the season and second of his career, returning it 35 yards for his first career touchdown. He registered a season-high 2.5 tackles for loss as part of his 4.0 total tackles, while also adding four quarterback hurries and one pass breakup. Overall, Vigil is tied for second on the team in tackles, with 23 so far on the season.

This is Vigil's third CFPA recognition. He joins Paul Dawson (TCU), Josh Keyes (Boston College), Hau'oli Kikaha (Washington), Maleki Harris (South Alabama) and Cameron Lynch (Syracuse) on the honorable mention list. Washington's Shaq Thompson was named Linebacker of the Week.

Larsen and Vigil led an Aggie defense that limited Wake Forest to just 232 yards of total offense, including negative 25 rushing which ranks as the fourth-best performance in school history.

Utah State (2-1, 0-0 MW) plays at Arkansas State (1-2, 0-0 Sun Belt) this weekend in its second road game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. (MT). The game will be streamed live on ESPN3. USU is 3-2 all-time against the Red Wolves, including a 0-2 road record.
