SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Wade Cowan shot a final-round 73 while teammate Chris Combe added a 77 to lead Utah State in the last day of the Countrywide Home Loans Intercollegiate here on Tuesday. The Aggies finished the three-round tournament in 16th place.

Cowan and Combe were the only two USU players to shoot better than 80 on the final day as Cody Huot and Phil Kalivas each shot 80, while Marcus Myers had an 81. For the three rounds, Huot was the Aggies' top finisher tying for 28th place with a 228 total.

Huot, who opened the tournament with a 73 in the morning and a 75 in the afternoon on Monday, slipped with his highest round of the young season. Myers, a freshman just like Huot tied for 51st at 233, while Kalivas tied for 58th at 235 and Cowan and Combe tied for 88th at 242.

Utah won the event by 18 shots over runner-up North Texas. The Utes shot an 867 team total while North Texas carded an 885. Austin Peay State was third at 888, while Arizona State and Cal State Stanislaus shot 895. Utah State had a 929 total. The Utes' Casey Fowles claimed medalist honors with a 208 total which included a four-under par 68 on the final day.

The tournament was the final event of the fall for Utah State.
