MISSION
The Utah State Athletics Department will provide a comprehensive and diverse Division I intercollegiate program that provides scholar-athletes with the resources and leadership to pursue academic excellence while competing at their highest level. In addition, the department will serve as the front porch of the university to foster a sense of community and pride among faculty, staff, alumni and supporters.Â

ILLNESS AND INJURY FAQ
Q: What do I do if I get hurt?Â
Contact your athletic trainer via phone or in person in the athletic training room. An evaluation will be completed to determine the appropriate care. Additional imagining or referral to the appropriate medical professional will be orchestrated if necessary.Â
Q: How should I follow up after an injury?Â
Your athletic trainer will coordinate with you regarding any follow up care for your injury. Check- in with them regularly so you can recovery in a timely manner. Let your athletic trainer know if you are feeling good. If you do not communicate and fail to come in to treatment it is assumed you are feeling good and can participate without restriction unless previously discussed.
Q: Do I let my coach know if I have any limitations?
Over communication is better than under communication but it is the responsibility of your athletic trainer to notify the coaching staff as well as the strength and conditioning coaches of any limitations or restrictions in practice/ games or lifts and conditioning.Â
Q: I woke up sick, who do I need to tell?Â
If you start feeling sick, it is your responsibility to notify your athletic trainer of your symptoms for guidance on next steps. They can help determine your ability to participate in team activities or refer to the team physician if necessary.Â
Q: Who are the team physicians and when are they available?Â
Dr. Pickett and Dr. Liddle are the team physicians who work closely with Utah State athletics. Dr. Pickett is available in the athletic training room on Monday and Thursday mornings and by appointment in the Intermountain Budge Clinic. Dr. Liddle is at all football practices and is available after practice Monday- Friday. If you feel the need to see a doctor, your athletic trainer can coordinate appropriate referral.Â
Q: Are my medical records confidential?Â
The sports medicine team is constructed of athletic trainers, physicians, nutritionist and strength and conditioning staff. As a team, all members work together to ensure proper and effective treatment of the entire individual. Based on the circumstance of your situation, we will discuss with you who we will communicate your status with. Consent will be gained to communicate necessary information.Â
