BRIGHTON, Colo. - Marcus Myers led a trio of Utah State golfers that shot par or better in the afternoon to help the Aggies to a 13th place standing after the first day of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate here on Monday. The three-round tournament will conclude on Tuesday.

Myers shot a three-under par 69 in the afternoon to lead the Aggies, who cut 25 shots off their first round score. Phil Kalivas fired a one-under par 71 and Wade Cowen carded an even-par 72 in the afternoon to help the Aggies in the second round.

Utah State was in last place in the 14-team tournament after Monday's morning round with a 314 total. Cody Huot (76) and Myers (77) were the only USU players to break 80 in the morning. However, USU improved to a 289, the ninth-best team score in the afternoon, to move up one place to 13th.

UNC Wilmington leads the tournament with a 576 total, one shot ahead of both Oregon State and host Denver. Texas-El Paso is fourth at 580, while Weber State rounds out the top five after two rounds with a 585 total. USU has a 603 total.

Myers leads USU in the individual race as he is tied for 21st with a 146 total. Huot and Cowen are tied for 55th at 153, while Kalivas is tied for 74th at 158 and Kevin Mullen is tied for 76th at 161.

The tournament will finish with 18 holes on Tuesday. Utah State sent a split squad to the tournament as five other Aggies competed at the Idaho Vandal Fall Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
