Utah State's golf team completed its season by finishing 12th at the PING Cougar Classic hosted by Brigham Young here on Saturday. The Aggies tried to make a move on the final day, shooting its best round of the tournament with a 303, but finished two shots behind Weber State for 11th place.
Colorado State won the event by one stroke over both Denver and host BYU, while Utah and Nevada rounded out the top five. Colorado State's Martin Laird claimed medalist honors by two shots with a 209 total. Shawn Wills of Denver was second.
USU's Cody Huot shot the best round othe tournament by a USU player with a 73 on the final day to lead the Aggies. Teammates Marcus Myers and Phil Kalivas each added 75s, while Jason Blair shot 80 and Chris Combe recorded an 82.
For the tournament Myers was the top USU finisher as he tied for 32nd with a 225 total. Kalivas tied for 38th at 226, Huot tied for 43rd at 228, Blair finished 60th at 237, while Chris Combe tied for 61st at 238.
