USAFA, Colo. – Utah State women's tennis continued its run at the ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains with singles and doubles action on Friday.
 
The Aggies opened the day a round of doubles. Graduates Annaliese County and Monique Burton lost 8-5 to New Mexico State sophomore Lisa Zhu and freshman Anna Pinaieva in the quarterfinals of the Alpha draw.
 
Redshirt senior Sidnee Lavatai and junior Lisa Küng advanced in the consolation draw of the Alpha bracket after an 8-3 victory over Denver freshmen Anastasia Simonov and Caroline Driscoll.
 
Senior Zeynep Naz Ozturk and sophomore Indya Nespor lost 8-2 to Colorado State graduate Ky Ecton and junior Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya in the quarterfinals of the Bravo draw.
 
Doubles action continues for the three Aggie pairs on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 9 a.m.
 
Junior Laura Fernanda Eugenio De Hilario and freshman Jade Brilhante defeated Idaho State sophomore Olivia Mikkelson and Air Force sophomore Maddie Dibble 8-3 in the consolation draw of the Charlie bracket.
 
Seven Aggies saw action in the first two rounds of singles play on Friday.
 
Burton defeated Air Force sophomore Alexis Odom 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 in the first round of the Bravo bracket before falling to Colorado State graduate Emily Dush 6-0, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
 
Two Utah State student-athletes competed in the Charlie bracket, with Naz Oturk defeating New Mexico State senior Miranda Bishard in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, before losing 6-1, 7-5 to Boise State junior Shauna Heffernan. Nespor won a set against Idaho freshman Valentina Rodas Carcamo, losing 4-6, 6-3, 2-6. Nespor then lost 6-3, 6-4 to Denver freshman Claudia Martinez de Velasco.
 
Both Aggies in the Delta bracket had straight set, first-round victories against BYU as Eugenio De Hilario won 6-2, 6-2 against sophomore Avery Pope, while Lavatai also won 6-2, 6-2 against freshman Tini Li. Eugenio De Hilario lost her second match 6-1, 6-3 to Idaho State sophomore Leah Kuruvilla, and Lavatai lost 6-0, 6-0 to Colorado State's Zhadzinskaya.
 
Küng, the lone USU player in the Alpha draw, lost both Friday matches after a 7-6 (5), 6-1 loss to Air Force senior Sydney Fitch and a 7-5, 6-2 loss to New Mexico State's Zhu. Brilhante had a first-round bye in the Echo bracket before losing 6-0, 7-5 to Idaho State's Mikkelson.
