HOW TO APPLY TO USU
To begin the application process please visit the Utah State University admission website at: https://applynow.usu.edu/. Please note that you will be asked your admissions term. It is important to select the correct term (i.e. Summer 2023, Fall 2023, Spring 2024). As part of the admissions process you will also need the following: $50 nonrefundable application fee, high school transcripts, official ACT or SAT Scores (optional, but highly encouraged, and any concurrent enrollment transcripts. Transfer student-athletes will need to submit transcripts from all colleges/universities previously attended.
Enrollment Deposit:
The new enrollment deposit is a $200 nonrefundable deposit that an admitted student is required to pay before they will be able to apply for housing, enroll in classes, do orientation, etc. $50 of the deposit will go towards the current orientation fee we already have, while the other $150 will go towards their tuition balance. Students can request postponement of the required deposit if they meet certain requirements if they are scholarship student athletes. Once a student-athlete is admitted, they will need to go to
https://www.usu.edu/admissions/enrollment-deposit, where they will have the option to “Pay Enrollment Deposit” or “Postpone Enrollment Deposit.” Scholarship athletes will choose “Postpone Enrollment Deposit” and will choose the option of “signed an athletics aid agreement” as their reason for postponement. Currently, the process involves manual review by the Admissions Office, so it may take a day or two before you are cleared to continue with enrolling, applying for housing, etc.
Scholarship Deadline:
Academic scholarships that are part of admissions (i.e. Presidential, Deans, WUE, etc.) now have a deadline for students to qualify for these scholarships:
- Fall 2024 incoming freshman = December 1, 2023
- Fall 2024 incoming transfer = February 1, 2024
- Spring 2025 incoming freshman or transfer = October 1, 2024
Another thing with scholarships, USU now has a program called Scholarship Universe that is basically the home of all institutional scholarships (other than admissions scholarships) that USU has to offer. This is an additional scholarship application that students must do. The application for these scholarships opens on November 1 for the 2023-24 academic year. Students must be currently enrolled or admitted to apply.

TEST SCORES
Due to changes in availability to access testing facilities during COVID-19 pandemic, it is currently not mandatory for students to submit their ACT/SAT test scores as part of their admission application. With that said, USU Athletics highly encourages incoming students to still take the ACT/SAT and to send their scores.
Merit-based scholarships are awarded based on the Scholarship Index. In order to meet parameters required by the Scholarship Index, students are required to take the ACT/SAT and submit their scores. Students who are unable to take the ACT/SAT may request a personal comprehensive scholarship review for scholarship consideration. The review will consider benchmarks such as grade point average (GPA), high school course rigor, class rank, and other criteria. Learn more at usu.edu/admissions/scholarships
