Biography

HONORS -- Was a three-time all-conference honoree... A four-time academic all-conference selection... In 2004, posted the fifth-highest season average in USU history on bars with a 9.925.

2006 (JUNIOR)-- Competed in every meet of the season for the Aggies, including the all-around at seven meets... Her strongest performance came against Sacramento State where she posted season highs in the bars (9.800), floor (9.800) and all-around (38.750)... Her season high on the vault came at Utah with a 9.700, while her season high 9.750 on the beam came against Washington and Texas Woman's... Competed in the WAC Championships where she placed third on the bars tying her season high score of 9.800, while also competing on the beam and in the floor exercise.

2005 (SOPHOMORE)-- Martin suffered a small injury that limited her action in the first two meets. She led the Aggies on bars in the first four meets. She won the all-around title against Denver in her first time competing in the all-around in 2005 with a 38.750. Had four personal bests against Texas Woman’s including a 9.900 on the beam, which ties her for 10th all-time. Also posted a 39.275 in the all-around. Had a season high 9.825 on bars at BYU. Tied her season high on floor of 9.850 against Denver/Kentucky. After throwing her shoulder out during warm-ups, she toughed out three routines at the WGC Championships and took sixth place (9.725) on bars. Martin earned all-WGC on bars in 2005 and academic all-WGC honors in 2005 and 2004.

2004 (FRESHMAN)-- Recorded seven straight meets of 39.000 or better in the all-around. Won the all-around and bars versus Southern Utah and the all-around again at Brigham Young. Tied for first at California on bars. The 9.925 on bars recorded at SUU is the fifth best all-time at USU. Recorded two of the top-13 USU all-around performances. Floor (9.810) and beam (9.752) averages for the year were the fifth best averages in the respective events at USU all-time. Martin earned first team all-Western Gymnastics Conference in all-around and on bars. Was named the Western Gymnastic Conference Athlete of the Week twice as well as USU Athlete of the Week once.

CLUB/HIGH SCHOOL-- Competed as a Level 10 gymnast for Crystal Tonto at Windsor Gymnastics Academy. Was Level 10 state champion in 1999 and 2002. Four time regional qualifier. Third-place regional finish in 1999 and 2002. Two-time national qualifier. Placed 11th nationally on bars in 2002. Graduated high school with a 3.5 grade point average.

PERSONAL-- Exercise science major. Daughter of Michael and Sheila Martin. Has one older brother. Enjoys dancing, shopping for shoes, and listening to music.
