Aggies Victorious Over Idaho, 31-14

LOGAN, Utah (AP) - Jose Fuentes threw for 421 yards and two touchdowns and caught a scoring pass as Utah State beat Idaho 31-14 on Saturday.

Aaron Jones had a career-best 233 yards receiving for Utah State (3-4, 2-0 Big West). Willie Alderson ran for 155 yards and two touchdowns for Idaho (3-5, 1-1).

Fuentes escaped a blitz and hit Emmett White for a 74-yard touchdown pass with 7:34 remaining. White, who entered the game ninth in the nation in all-purpose running, finished with 128 yards rushing and two catches for 84 yards.

Fuentes' touchdown catch on a pass from David Fiefia capped a 99-yard drive in the third quarter.

The 421 passing yards by Fuentes was the fourth-best single-game total in school history.

Neither team scored in the first quarter, though Alderson cut through defenders for an 81-yard run on the final play of the quarter. Two plays later, he scored on a 1-yard run to give the Vandals the lead.

Utah State's Brad Bohn kicked a 40-yard field goal, and defensive lineman Jesse Busta intercepted a tipped pass to set by Jones' 24-yard touchdown catch.

A 53-yard pass reception by Jones set up a 4-yard run by White on the next drive with six minutes left in the first half, giving Utah State a 17-7 lead.

Idaho scored a touchdown on a 1-yard run by Alderson, and Utah State led 17-14 at the half, the first time this season the Aggies led at the break.
