Utah State's Athletics Department will be showcased as national champions of the Excellence in Management Cup, presented by Texas A&M's Laboratory for the Study of Intercollegiate Athletics (LSIA) in the Department of Health and Kinesiology.

The award presentation will take place Saturday, Sept. 19, at 4:30 p.m. at Duncan Field on the Texas A&M campus. Representatives from LSIA will present the award to Utah State officials before the 6 p.m. game-day kickoff.

The EM Cup awards athletic departments that win the most conference and national championships with the lowest operating expenses in accordance with financial expenditures.

The scores are calculated using a formula that accounts for total athletic department spending, number of sports played, and the number of conference and national championships won by each Division I (FBS) university.

Results showed that "major" universities may not be running as economically sound as some smaller universities, as the top ten athletic departments were all from non-BCS affiliated universities.

For a complete list of results and details on the EM Cup, visit the Laboratory for the Study of Intercollegiate Athletics at http://lsia.tamu.edu.
