Cameron Walker has quickly established himself as a transformational leader at Utah State University, guiding Aggie Athletics through one of the most significant periods in its history. In his first year as Utah State’s Vice President and Director of Athletics, Walker has helped position the department for its transition to the Pac-12 Conference while strengthening the foundation for long-term competitive, financial and organizational success.

Walker was named Utah State’s 13th Vice President and Director of Athletics in September 2025 and officially began his tenure on Oct. 6, 2025. He arrived in Logan with extensive leadership experience at the University of Tennessee, the University of Central Florida and Utah Valley University.

Immediately preceding his arrival at Utah State, Walker served as senior deputy director of athletics and chief strategy officer at Tennessee, where he provided leadership and strategic oversight across numerous areas of the athletics department, including compliance and legal affairs, facilities and grounds, event operations, sports administration and name, image and likeness initiatives.

At Utah State, Walker immediately began implementing a comprehensive vision designed to elevate every aspect of the student-athlete and fan experience. A central component of that vision has been the Show Me Initiative, an all-encompassing modernization effort focused on building a stronger athletics department, expanding community engagement and creating sustainable opportunities for student-athletes.

Under Walker's leadership, Utah State Athletics has experienced significant growth in its first year as the department surpassed each of its six-month Show Me benchmarks, establishing records in fundraising, corporate partnerships and ticket sales.

In just one year, the Show Me Initiative has produced historic results across multiple revenue streams. Utah State Athletics generated more than $18 million in philanthropic support during the 2025-26 fiscal year, representing a 192 percent increase over the previous year. Membership in the Big Blue Club increased by 36 percent to an all-time high of 2,153 members, while Blue A Society membership grew by 38 percent to a record 145 members. Corporate sponsorship revenue also climbed to a department-record $3.3 million, an increase of 12 percent from the previous year.

Walker has also prioritized strengthening the department's leadership structure and operational foundation. During his first year, he added key members to the athletics senior staff and expanded resources in areas critical to the overall student-athlete experience, including sports medicine, performance nutrition and equipment services.

Walker’s first year coincided with one of the most successful competitive seasons in Utah State Athletics history. During the 2025-26 academic year, the Aggies captured a school-record nine combined regular-season and tournament conference championships, the most conference titles won by any Mountain West institution during the academic year. Utah State swept both the regular-season and tournament championships in men’s basketball, women’s volleyball, men’s tennis and women’s gymnastics, while women’s soccer also captured the MW Tournament championship.

Just as impressive was the academic performance of Utah State’s student-athletes. The department recorded a school-record 3.55 cumulative GPA following the spring 2026 semester, while its 328 student-athletes posted a 3.52 term GPA. In addition, a department-best 274 student-athletes were recognized at the Sagebrush Awards Banquet for earning a 3.2 GPA or better during the 2025-26 academic year, while 232 student-athletes earned Academic All-Mountain West honors and another 205 student-athletes were named MW Scholar-Athletes. Eighty student-athletes completed their degrees during the academic year, including nine who earned graduate degrees.

Service has also been a defining component of Utah State Athletics under Walker’s leadership. During the 2025-26 academic year, Utah State student-athletes recorded 12,006 validated hours of community service, ranking second nationally among NCAA Division I programs in the Helper Helper rankings. Nine Aggie teams ranked among the nation’s top 10 in their respective sports for community service, demonstrating that Utah State’s commitment to making a difference extends well beyond the playing field.

As senior deputy director of athletics and chief strategy officer at Tennessee, Walker developed and implemented strategic initiatives to support the overall success and growth of the athletics program, while providing oversight for a broad range of key areas, including compliance and legal affairs, facilities and grounds, event operations, sports administration, and initiatives related to name, image and likeness (NIL). Walker served as the sport administrator for the Vols' football team since joining the athletics department and held the same role for men's basketball from 2021 to 2023.

Before joining the Volunteers, he worked as the executive associate athletics director for compliance alongside current Tennessee Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Danny White at UCF, accompanying White from Orlando to Knoxville.

Walker arrived at UCF in July 2018 and served in the role of senior associate athletics director before his promotion to executive associate athletics director. He managed compliance, serving as the lead compliance contact for the football program, and oversaw drug testing for the athletics department. Additionally, Walker served as a member of the athletics executive staff and was a member of the compliance and ethics advisory committee, while also working as the athletics liaison to student development and enrollment services.

Before his time in Orlando, he held the role of the associate athletics director at Utah Valley University, overseeing compliance, academic performance, student-athlete development and the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC). Walker was instrumental in numerous department-wide improvements, including the addition of staff positions, upgrading the Wolverine Service Center, launching professional development initiatives, and executing various plans to boost academic progress. Funding for these efforts was obtained through multiple NCAA SSF and AASP grants, which Walker authored, managed and oversaw.

He held several campus leadership roles at UVU, including Title IX deputy coordinator, student affairs senator for the Professional Association of Campus Employees, and team lead for a committee that reviewed departments and recommended improvements. Walker also taught as an adjunct professor, covering business law, contract drafting, legal research and writing, student leadership, and student success. He earned his juris doctorate, graduating cum laude from the University of Arkansas.

Walker, a native of Rexburg, Idaho, was a baseball student-athlete at Ricks College and Southern Virginia. He earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Southern Virginia in 2007, where he was a team captain and two-time Academic All-American. He later worked as an assistant coach.

Walker and his wife, Heather, have one daughter, Aleksandra, and three sons: Hudson, McCann and Jackson.
