LOGAN, Utah – Utah State Assistant Vice President and Deputy Athletics Director for External Affairs
Coleman Barnes has announced that
Ryan McLane has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions.

"It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of a very special community, university and athletics department. I am proud to be an Aggie and will continue to develop our marketing and promotions unit to be considered one of the best in the Mountain West."

Prior to his promotion, McLane spent the previous two years as an Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions at Utah State.

"Ryan has done an outstanding job leading our marketing team and creating additional opportunities to engage the community," Barnes said. "His can-do attitude and ability to get things done will continue to position our athletics department for success, all while enhancing the fan experience and increasing attendance at Aggie events."

Before his return to Utah State, McLane served as the Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. While at VCU, McLane developed strategic marketing, advertising and sales campaigns that resulted in 48 consecutive sold-out men's basketball games, and increased average attendance for several other programs.

McLane assisted in department-wide rebranding efforts for the Rams, introducing new logos and brand identity during the 2013-14 campaign. Additionally, he managed the athletics student support organization and the department's kids club program, and supervised the spirit squad coaches and pep band director.

Prior to his time at VCU, McLane spent two years at Utah State as the Director of Athletic Marketing and Promotions. In this role, he managed and implemented all advertising and promotional efforts for the USU Athletics Department, along with directing the game presentation at all home athletic events and maintaining the department's website and social media platforms.

During his first stint at Utah State, McLane helped the department through the rebranding process in 2012 and oversaw marketing efforts for the school's move to the Mountain West.

The native of Pittsburgh, Pa., graduated from Robert Morris in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He then completed a master's degree in education at Oklahoma in 2011. His wife,
Laura McLane, is an assistant athletic trainer at Utah State.
