Utah State Track & Field to Conclude Outdoor Regular Season at Fresno State and Bengal Invitationals

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State's track & field teams are set to conclude the outdoor regular season this weekend at a pair of meets. The Aggies will compete at the Idaho State-hosted Bengal Invitational in Pocatello, Idaho, and the Fresno State Invitational in Fresno, California.
 
Competition at the Bengal Invitational will begin with the men's and women's hammer on Friday at 2:30 p.m. (MT). A full schedule of events has been provided by Idaho State athletics. Live results will be available throughout the weekend.
 
The Fresno State Invitational will also begin with the men's and women's hammer on Friday at 3 p.m. (MT), the lone event to be contested on Friday. Saturday's competition will resume at 11 a.m. (MT) with the men's javelin. A full schedule of events is available through Fresno State athletics. Live results will be provided by Record Timing. Saturday's events are available for streaming with a subscription through FloTrack.
 
The two meets will be the last tune-up for USU before the Mountain West Outdoor Championships on Wednesday through Saturday, May 10-13, in Clovis, California.
 
Utah State competed last weekend at the Robison Invitaitonal and the Stanford-hosted Payton Jordan Invitational. The highlight of the weekend came at Stanford, where junior Max Wehrli and graduate senior Mica Rivera continued USU's record-breaking season, recording the third and fourth school-record marks this year. Wehrli placed fourth in the section one finals of the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:38.94, breaking the previous school record of 8:40.73 set by Colby Wilson in 2016. Graduate senior Mica Rivera also broke the school record in the women's 5,000 meters, finishing in 12th of the section one finals with a time of 16:10.90, breaking the school record of 16:14.46 set by Kashley Karter in 2017. 
 
USU also registered three titles and 10 top-three finishes at the Robison Invitational. Junior Sidnee Naerebout won the women's triple jump with a mark of 11.79 meters (38-8.25), which places her ninth all-time at USU. Junior Brennan Benson won the men's mile with a time of 4:05.33. Senior Tori Bailey won the women's discus with a mark of 51.68 meters (169-6.75) and took third in the hammer with a mark of 55.36 meters (181-7.50).
