CRESWELL, Oregon — Junior
Julio Arronte finished the 2024 Mountain West Golf Championships tied for 13th place with an even par 216 at the 7,210-yard, par-72 Emerald Valley Golf Club. Arronte is just the third Aggie to finish in the top 15 at the MW Championships.
Utah State, who concluded the tournament in 10th place at 11-over 875 (294-276-305), finished the season with 12 rounds under par to set the school record. The previous best was eight rounds under par set during the 2015-16 season and tied last year.
San Diego State won the team title with an 11-under 853 (282-286-285) after defeating New Mexico in a one-hole playoff.
Boise State's Cole Rueck took home medalist honors with a 7-under 209 (73-68-68).
Arronte, who was in first place heading into the final round at 7-under-par, carded a 7-over 79 on Sunday to finish tied for 13th at even par 216 (71-66-79). For Arronte, it is the fifth top-15 finish of his career.
Junior
Esteban Jaramillo shot a 1-over 73 on Sunday and tied for 29th at 3-over 219 (74-72-73). Freshman
Ashton McArthur carded a 5-over 77 and tied for 36th at 5-over 221 (75-69-77). Senior
John Cook finished the tournament tied for 42nd at 8-over 224 (74-69-81) and freshman
Enrique Karg tied for 44th at 9-over 225 (77-72-76).
