LOGAN, Utah – Utah State's men's cross country team received votes in the Week 3 edition of the NCAA DI Cross Country National Coaches' Poll, which were released Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Both the men's and women's teams were also ranked in the organization's Mountain Region Rankings, which were released Monday.
The men's team received four voter points in the national poll, their first recognition in the national rankings in 2025. Last season, USU ranked as high as 19th in the nation before finishing 22nd at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. The Aggies are one of five Mountain West men's teams featured in the USTFCCCA's national rankings, joining New Mexico (third), Air Force (23rd), Boise State (29th) and Wyoming (receiving votes). Utah State also featured in FloTrack's Division I XC Rankings, with the men's team rising one place from 29th to 28th.
In the regional poll, the Aggie men rose from seventh to sixth while the women's team held steady at sixth. The USU women's team continued its remarkable run of having featured in every regional ranking since 2012, while the men have been ranked in every regional poll since 2016. The women's regional poll went unchanged from Week 2 to Week 3, while USU's move ahead of Wyoming was the only change in the men's poll.
The women's team enters the home stretch of the 2025 regular season with three top-five team finishes. Individually, juniors
Natalie Swain and
Shelby Jensen have each earned Mountain West Women's Athlete of the Week honors following their respective top-three finishes. The Aggie men took second place at the Paul Short Run on October 3, beating nationally-ranked Syracuse (No. 11) and Harvard (No. 29) with 123 points. The men were led by sophomore
Joshua McKee's eighth-place finish in the Gold 8K race.
Utah State returns home to host their final home meet, the Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invitational, at Steve and Dona Reeder Cross Country Course on Friday, Oct. 10. The men's 7K race will start at 3 PM, to be followed by the women's 5K race at 3:45 PM. Admission is free to the public.
