Kayla Stephens joined Utah State as an academic coordinator in October of 2021
Stephens came to Logan after serving as an academic advisor at Weber State since August of 2019. There, Stephens was the primary contact for academic services for the track & field, cross country, golf and softball programs. Stephens advised student-athletes on academic progress, degree and appropriate class selection, registration, campus resources and academic policies. In addition to her day-to-day responsibilities, Stephens also served as the advisor for Weber State's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Prior to Weber State, Stephens was a graduate assistant with academic advising within the athletic department at Texas Tech University. There, Stephens met weekly with student-athletes to develop academic plans and helped with time-managment skills, organizational strategies and goal setting.
Stephens earned her undergraduate degree in kinesiology from Lincoln Memorial University, where she was a goalkeeper for the women's soccer team and finished her career among the all-time leaders in goals against average, save percentage and shutouts. She then earned a graduate degree in counselor education from Texas Tech.
Stephens is originally from Fort Worth, Texas, and in her free time enjoys binge watching tv shows, skiing, reading and exploring all of the hiking trails that Utah has to offer.
