2016 (JR)
Cross Country (2015): Finished 102nd with a time of 34:12.64 at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships… Competed in five meets and recorded a pair of top-five finishes, placing fourth at the Utah State-hosted Aggie Invitational (20:51.75) and fifth at the Montana State Invitational (26:16.75)... Earned academic all-Mountain West and Mountain West Scholar-Athlete accolades. Indoor: Earned first-team all-Mountain West honors after finishing first in the 4,000m distance medley relay with a personal-best time of 9:47.99, which ranks as the second-best mark in school history, at the Indoor Championships… Placed sixth in the mile at the Indoor Championships with a time of 4:14.52… Set a personal-best time of 4:05.85 in the mile, which ranks fourth all-time in school history, at the Washington-hosted Husky Classic… Clocked a career-best time of 1:55.88 to win the 800m at the Boise State-hosted Ed Jacoby Invitational… Also had a personal-best time of 8:31.22 at the New Mexico Team Challenge… Recorded four first-place finishes.
Outdoor: Competed in five meets, placing eighth with a time of 3:54.71 in the 1,500m at the MW Outdoor Championships… Won the 3,000m steeplechase at the UCLA-hosted Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersey Invitational with a personal-best time of 9:12.26… Clocked a personal-best time of 3:46.70 in the 1,500m, which ranks seventh all-time in school history, at the Stanford Invitational and a career-best time of 4:27.85 in the mile at the BYU-hosted Clarence Robison Invitational… Garnered academic all-MW, MW Scholar-Athlete and USTFCCCA all-academic accolades.

2015 (RS): Redshirted both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

PREVIOUS SCHOOL: Recorded his best finish for BYU during the indoor season, capturing third in the 800m at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational... Ran in the 800m, 1,500m, and 3,000m steeplechase during the 2011 outdoor season for the Cougars.

HIGH SCHOOL: A six-time letterwinner in cross country and track & field at North Central High School in Spokane, Wash.... Led cross country team to a state championship in 2008, 2009 & 2010, as well as a national cross country championship in 2008... Led track & field team to three state championships in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

PERSONAL: One of five children of Peter and Carlene Johnston... Served an LDS Church Mission in Charleston, W. Va.... Majoring in interdisciplinary studies.
