Steve Prescott Named USU Athlete Of The Week

LOGAN, Utah -

Sophomore Steve Prescott was named Utah State's Athlete of the Week Monday.

Prescott was the top men's Aggie finisher at the Big West Championships, placing third with a time of 26:01 just five seconds behind first place. USU finished second in the meet and is currently ranked 25th in the nation.

The Aggies travel to Provo, Utah, on Nov. 10 to compete in the NCAA Regional Championships.

Nominees from other sports:

Cross Country (Women's)-Billie Winter (Lander, Wyo.) . . . Freshman Billie Winter was USU's top runner, taking 16th place at the Big West Championships with a time of 19:06. The Aggies finished in fourth place.

Football-David Fiefia (West Valley City, Utah) . . . Sophomore running back David Fiefia had eight carries for 47 yards in Saturday's 30-27 win over Central Florida. Fiefia's 16-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter led the Aggies to their second win of the season.

Golf-Phil Kalivas (Green River, Wyo.) . . . Junior Phil Kalivas led Utah State to a season-best third place finish at the Boise State Men's Invitational. Kalivas tied for fifth place individually, shooting just 4-over-par in the three-round tournament. Kalivas had the best individual score of the Aggie season.

Soccer-Brigid Turner (Las Vegas, Nev.) . . . Turner's 35 career points put her at second place in the Aggie record book for most points in a career.

Tennis (Men's)-Andy Madersbacher (Kramsach, Austria) . . . Senior Andy Madersbacher continues to lead the men's team with his play on the court. Madersbacher reached the fifth round of singles consolation play at the Omni Hotels Western Regional Tournament at UNLV last weekend.

Tennis (Women's)-Sarah Lowe (Ogden, Utah) . . . Senior Sarah Lowe was invited to play at the Rolex Region VII Invitational but lost in the first round, 6-1.

Volleyball-Michelle Matheson (Moreno Valley, Calif.) . . . Matheson led Utah State in kills in two of it's three matches this week. Matheson hit .265 with 20 digs and eight blocks.
