LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's volleyball team made quick work of UC Riverside tonight at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum with a three-game sweep (30-13, 30-16, and 30-21) to improve to 13-7 on the season and 9-3 in the Big West Conference. The Highlanders drop to 8-16 on the season and 1-14 in league play with the loss.

After trailing 11-7 in game one, Utah State scored 15 straight points and 23 of the final 25 to win game one 30-13 as USU held UC Riverside to a negative .067 hitting percentage. The momentum USU had in game one carried over into the final two games as the Aggies raced out to early leads in both and coasted to the win.

"Like I have been saying all season long, we play well during matches because we have a good group that plays well during practice," said USU head coach Burt Fuller. "It was nice to get everybody a little time tonight and they have earned it. I thought they all played well tonight."

Individually for Utah State, sophomore middle blocker Erin Cartwright (Wellsville, Utah) hit a blistering .600 in the match with 13 kills to go along with seven digs and two blocks, while senior outside hitter Lisa Borom (Las Vegas, Nev.) hit .414 with 12 kills and no attack errors. Senior outside hitter Heather Olmstead (Carpinteria, Calif.) had a team-high 19 digs in the match.

As a team, USU hit .279 overall and held UC Riverside to a .000 hitting percentage. USU also won the battle at the net recording 12 team blocks in the contest to just three for the Highlanders.

Utah State will return to action on Tues., Nov. 6 against Weber State at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum beginning at 7 p.m. USU will return to league action next weekend with a pair of road matches at Cal State Northridge and Pacific.
