OGDEN, Utah -
After winning two straight and three of their previous four matches, the Utah State women's tennis team lost to Weber State 6-1 for the second time this year. The match was the final regular season contest for the Aggies, who are 6-9 heading into the Big West Championships at Ojai, Calif., April 24-29.
USU had lost a home match 7-0 against Weber State back on Feb. 13. The Aggies' 6-9 record, with the league championship remaining, is just two wins shy of last year's 8-11 mark, which was the best record for USU in at least five years.
USU's Richelle Ferguson was the only Aggie to win an individual match as Weber State took the other five singles matches in two straight sets. Ferguson won the first set 6-2 and was ahead 5-2 in the second set to Kim Sen. She then posted a narrow 7-5 win in the third set to get the individual win.
Weber State also dominated doubles play winning the first and third doubles matches by 8-2 scores as Ferguson and Jocee Mason lost just 8-6 at second doubles.
With the win, Weber State improved to 9-4 on the year.
