Emmett White Named USU Athlete Of The Week

LOGAN, Utah - Football player Emmett White has been named this week's Utah State Athlete of the Week. The award is selected by a local media panel.

White, a senior running back from Ogden, Utah (Ben Lamond HS) posted 274 rushing yards on 32 carries for two touchdowns, including a career-long 48-yard touchdown run. He had five receptions for 38 yards, leading to one touchdown, and a punt return for 22 yards. His 274 rushing yards are the third-most in USU history and second-most in his career. White leads the nation in all-purpose rushing yards, averaging 218 per game. His 334 all-purpose yards against Wyoming is the second-best performance of his career.

The USU football team kicks off against Oregon Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Romney Stadium.

Nominees From Other Sports Included:

Soccer-- Amber Tracy . . . Tracy continues to pace the Aggie offense, as she scored two goals within one minute of each other against Idaho State and leads USU with four goals and eight points on the season.

Volleyball -- Chelsi Neves . . . Senior setter Chelsi Neves posted 61 assists and a .462 hitting percentage to lead the Aggies in their first Big West Conference win of the season against Idaho. Neves also had 10 digs in the five-game match. She has moved into fifth on the USU career assists list with 1,737 assists in just over a year of play. The transfer from Sheridan (Wyo.) Junior College has 296 assists this season, averaging 10.96 per game.
