Utah State track teams opened their indoor season at the Snake River Open in Pocatello, Idaho Saturday. The Aggies competed against Idaho State, Southern Utah, Boise State, Utah, Weber State, BYU, Northwest Nazarene, Ricks College and Treasure Valley Community College, along with competitors from Nike and Greater Boise Running Club.
Senior Anthony Stewart finished first in the men's 200M with a time of 21:99. Stewart also finished third in the 60M at 6.9. Joel Johnson had a strong meet, finishing 2nd in the long jump (21-10.75). Johnson tied with teammate Brad Bair for ninth place in the pole vault (14-6).
Senior Rebekah Thornley took second in the 3,000M. Her time of 10.12.24 tied her personal best, which was also fourth best in USU history. The women's team had five runners in the 3,000M top ten finishers. Candice Workman finished second in the shot put with a throw of 46-7.75.
The Aggies will host the Wilson Motors Invitational in Logan at the George Nelson Field House on Saturday, Jan. 26.
