LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's tennis team swept all six singles matches and all three doubles matches, beating Portland State 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Sports Academy in Logan. The Aggies played their second match in as many days and evened their season record at 1-1.

The Aggies, coming off an emotional in-state match against Utah last night, set the pace for the afternoon's match, winning all three doubles matches convincingly.

In singles play, Sarah Lowe remained unbeaten this year, defeating Katie Slizewski 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 1 match. Freshman Carolyn Larsen blanked Karolina Pak 6-0, 6-0 to also remain undefeated on the season at 2-0. Jocee Bergeson, Caroline Pollock, Richelle Ferguson and Haley Hawkins won their matches by the same scores of 6- 0, 6-1.

"We were eager to get back out there and play following last night's match," head coach Chris Wright said. "I'm happy everyone got a win. Portland State is a young team, much like us a few years ago, but they fought hard."

USU's next match is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 21 against Air Force at the Sports Academy in Logan at noon.

"Air Force is very scrappy," Wright said. "We are going to have to scratch for every point. We will have to match their intensity if we are going to win."
