** Utah State (1-5) returns to action this week after having its first of three bye weeks when the Aggies host New Mexico (3-4, 1-1 in Mountain West Conference) for homecoming on Oct. 19 at 3:05 p.m.

** USU is 46-24-2 (.657) in homecoming history, including a 5-2 mark in its last seven games in front of the alums.

** USU is 2-2 in games immediately after bye weeks in the Mick Dennehy era having lost to Arizona State in 2000, lost to Wyoming, beat Idaho State, and beat Connecticut in 2001.

** New Mexico leads the series 10-7 and has won the three straight including two consecutive three-point decisions.

** LB Jesse Busta needs 12 tackles for sixth on the USU career tackles list and he is averaging 11.5 tackles per game this season.

** After three straight home wins, USU will play two Big West Conference road games this week, traveling to Pacific (10-6, 5-2) and Cal State Northridge (7-8, 2-5).

** USU and UOP split their season series last year, while USU swept CS Northridge with a pair of 3-0 victories.

** Erin Cartwright had a team season high 20 kills against BYU last Tuesday. On the week she hit .488 with 49 kills in three matches.

** USU's three-match winning streak is its second longest streak of the season as USU won four straight matches in mid-September.

** USU will return home for a match against Idaho on Oct. 26 as they are getting ready to play three of four matches away from Logan.

** The USU-UCSB series stands at 2-4 in UCSB's favor, with UCSB winning the teams' last three meetings. USU posted its two series wins in 1997 and 1998, with the 1997 victory its only Big West win that season.

** USU is 1-5 all-time against Cal Poly, with the Aggies' only win coming in Logan in 1999. Cal Poly has shut out USU four times, including a 3-0 win in 2000 and a 4-0 victory last year in San Luis Obispo.

** Senior forward Brigid Turner has a team-best 11 goals, one shy of tying her personal best season and two short of tying the school season record. Turner scored all three of USU's goals last weekend against UC Riverside and No. 25 Cal State Fullerton. She has 23 points on the year, and also leads the Aggies with a .696 SOG percentage, with 32 of her 46 total shots coming on goal.

** Three of USU's four Big West losses have been by one goal, including an overtime loss at UC Riverside Friday.

** Both the Utah State men's and women's cross country teams continue their seasons at the Pre-NCAA meet in Terre Haute, Ind. Saturday, Oct. 19. The meet is at the LaVern Gibson Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center.

** With 99 teams on the men's side and 100 on the women's, both races have been divided into two fields.

** The men's team is currently ranked 29th nationally, and is seventh in the Mountain Region.

** Ranked Mountain Region men's teams also competing at the meet include Colorado, Northern Arizona, Weber State, BYU, Colorado State and Montana State.

LAST WEEKOffTHIS WEEKOct. 14-15 - at Boise State Bronco Round Up, Boise IdahoNEXT WEEKOct. 21-22 - at Countrywide Invitational, Northridge, Calif.
** Utah State will compete at the Boise State Bronco Round Up on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 14-15. The tournament will take place at Spurwing Country Club. The 10-team field includes Southern Utah and Weber State from the state of Utah.

** USU will send the fivesome of Chris Combe, Wade Cowen, Cody Huot, Phil Kalivas and Marcus Myers.

** Combe led USU in its first weekend of action as he tied for 39th with a 224 score at the Idaho Vandal Classic.

** Myers, a freshman, has posted USU's best individual round this year as he carded a 69 in the second round of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate at Brighton, Colo.
