Results

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State University men's and women's track teams won a combined seven individual titles at the Mark Faldmo Invitational in Logan before the meet was cancelled because of snow.

The cold weather, rain, and snow made competing in the meet difficult, said USU head coach Gregg Gensel. "The weather conditions weren't ideal," said Gregg Gensel. "We knew the weather would be bad, but we asked (the athletes) to come out and compete. The other teams had to compete in this weather, too."

The Aggies were able to finish strongly in several events, in spite of adverse weather. Dwayne Foster took first in the 100-meter with a time of 10.70. Brett Guymon finished first in the 110-meter hurdles (14.50). In the long jump, Demario Franklin won with a mark of 22'9.75". Maurice Jenkins finished first in the pole vault with a height of 16'6".

Kristi Connors finished first in the 400-meter, Kristen Coombs won the 800-meter, and Shae Bair took first in the pole vault. Heather Smith set a team season fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles (14.82) and finished second.

Even though the meet had to be ended early because of bad weather, Gensel was pleased with the meet. "I'm excited about what I saw," said Gensel. "We had guys running and jumping and competing hard. You can't look at their times and say whether they did good or not, but you can look at their effort and say they did well."

The Aggies compete again Saturday, April 27, at the Micron Invitational in Boise, Idaho.
