LOGAN, Utah - Utah State track athlete Maurice Jenkins was awarded a $5,000 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship it was announced on Thursday.

Jenkins, a senior pole vaulter from Centerville, Utah, will use the scholarship to go to dental school after he graduates from Utah State. Jenkins will graduate from USU next May with a degree in biology and is working on a minor in bio-mathematics.

This season, Jenkins best vault was 16-10. Two years ago, Jenkins won the Big West Conference Championship with a career-best vault of 17-3. In 2001 Jenkins qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track Championships and placed 11th in the nation with a vault of 16-10.

Jenkins and the rest of the Aggie track team will compete at the Big West Conference Championships at Irvine, Calif., May 15-18.
