LOGAN, Utah - In the 2002 season opener, both the Aggie men's and women's cross country teams finished second Saturday at the Idaho State Cross Country Opener. Mike Nielson led the Aggie men, finishing second with a time of 18:40, one second behind meet champion Corbin Talley of Weber State University.
Carol Cabanillas finished 10th with a time of 11:03, leading the women's team, followed by teammate Lida Clapier (11:04). The Aggie women placed second to WSU with eight finishers in the top 30.
The men's team also finished second overall with 53 points, behind Weber State University (23). Mitch Zundel finished fourth at the meet with a time of 18:54. The Aggie men's team has not finished lower than second place in a regular-season meet since the 2000 season.
USU's cross country teams next compete Sept. 21at the UC Riverside Invitational in Riverside, Calif.
