Provo, Utah - Utah State's women's tennis team (1-1) suffered its first loss of the season Friday as it fell to BYU (1-2) 7-0 in Provo. The Aggies, coming off a season opening win against Montana State last week, were defeated by the 57th-ranked Cougars in the teams' first meeting since 1989
"We had a lot of chances," head coach Christian Wright said. "We looked confident, it just came down to execution and they executed a little better than we did. They came up with the big shots when they had to."
BYU started off by winning all three doubles matches, before sweeping the singles matches away from the Aggies. Utah State is now 0-2 against BYU since 1989.
The Aggies' next match will be on Wednesday, Feb. 5 against Idaho State in Pocatello. The match begins at 2 p.m.
