LOGAN, Utah - Sophomore Carolyn Larsen and freshman Jill Smith both won their singles and doubles matches to lead Utah State's women's tennis team to victory against Weber State 5-2 Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Sports Academy in Logan.
Utah State improved to 2-2 on the season, and is a perfect 2-0 at home. Weber State dropped to 1-4.
In addition to Larsen and Smith's victories, Caroline Pollock and Lindsey Bennion both posted wins in singles play to assure the victory.
In doubles action, the tandems of Larsen/Haley Hawkins and Smith/Andrea Hansen both claimed victories to clinch the doubles' point.
"We came out with good intensity today," USU head coach Christian Wright said. "We had to fight hard for the points. It's a good rivalry; we know these will always be competitive matches."
The Aggies have another two weeks off before facing UC Santa Barbara in Stockton, Calif. on Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m.
