LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's tennis won five out of six singles and two out of three doubles matches as it defeated Gonzaga 6-1 Saturday, March 29 at the Sports Academy in Logan. Utah State improved to 4-6 on the season, while Gonzaga dropped to 5-8. The Aggies are now 4-1 at home.
Leading the charge for the Aggies was Caroline Pollock and Lindsey Bennion. At No. 1 doubles, Bennion and Pollock defeated Jamie Bauterbaugh and Sirrah Williams 8-6. Pollock won at No. 1 singles in a tie-breaker, while Bennion won at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-3.
Freshman Andrea Hansen and Jill Smith also won both their singles and doubles matches. The duo won at No. 3 doubles 8-5. Hansen defeated her Gonzaga opponent at No. 6 singles, while Smith won at the No. 4 spot.
Also posting a victory for the Aggies was Richelle Ferguson, who won at the No. 5 spot, 6-3, 6-2.
The Aggies host Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday, April 1 at the Sports Academy in Logan.
