LOGAN, Utah - Richelle Ferguson posted both a singles and a doubles victory to lead the Utah State Women's tennis team to a 4-3 victory against Idaho State here Thursday afternoon. Ferguson, teamed with Andrea Hansen, won at number three doubles to secure the victory in the windy regular season finale. USU improved to 8-9, its most wins since the 1999-2000 season. The Bengals dropped to 10-7.

USU broke a 3-3 tie with two doubles wins to capture the narrow victory. Ferguson and Hansen won at number three and Caroline Pollock and Lindsey Bennion, both rebounded from singles losses, to win at the number one spot.

In singles, Ferguson won in three sets at the number five spot, while Jill Smith also won in three sets at number four and Carolyn Larsen defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-1 at number two singles.

"We got it done today," head coach Christian Wright said. "We'll work on a few things for conference next week, but it sure is a relief to get this win."

The Aggies, who lost earlier this season to the Bengals in Pocatello, Idaho, bounced back to split on the season.

The Aggies head to the Big West Tournament on Wednesday, April 23. The seedings will be announced tomorrow morning.
