Utah state falls short at boise state
BOISE, Idaho - Four Utah State gymnasts placed in four different events as the Aggies came up short by a score of 195.700 to 194.100 at Bosie State Friday night. Rachel Ropelato took second in the all-around competition with a 38.325 score, Ashley Barr placed third on the bars scoring 9.825, Gretchen Goerlitz placed third on the vault with a 9.825, and Liesel Kohler tied for third on the beam with a career-best score of 9.875.
Early falls on the bars hurt USU as it got off to a slow 47.550 start. It finished strong on the floor, however, with a season-best score of 49.125. The Aggies also had season-high scores on the vault and the beam scoring 48.725 and 48.700 respectively.
Boise State's 195.700 was its best of the season. The Broncos were lead by Carla Chambers who tied a school record in the all-around comptetition with a score of 195.700.
USU (4-4) will open its home season against Southern Utah next Friday Feb. 6 at 7pm in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
