BOZEMAN, Mont. - Carolyn Stephens picked up her first singles victory of the year as the Utah State women's tennis team captured its first sweep of the season over Montana State here Friday. The 7-0 victory improved USU's record to 3-4, while the Bobcats fell to 1-6.
The Aggies started off well getting the doubles point for the first time in four matches. USU swept the doubles point led by the number one doubles duo of Lindsey Bennion and Stephens who recorded the 9-7 win against the Bobcat tandem of Brown and Hockett.
Despite losing her first set in singles, Lindsey Bennion bounced back in the next two sets and increased her streak of number one singles victories to six straight. Richelle Moon returned to action, after missing the last two matches with an injury, to cruise to a 6-1, 6-3 straight set victory.
The Aggies return to action tomorrow as they face Gonzaga at noon. USU now has a 2-2 road record and looks to improve on its 1-0 neutral court record.
