PROVO, Utah - Hannes Schenk led Utah State University in the second day of play at the BYU Invitational, Friday, making it to the quarterfinal round before being eliminated. In all, three Aggies made it to the second round of play. For the day the Aggies made it 5-16 in singles play and 3-7 in doubles.

Schenk, a junior, won his first match against Elliott Quibell of Colorado in two straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. In Schenk's second match he defeated Dominik Kaufold, of BYU, in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. In his third match he met Chip Hand of BYU where he lost 6-2, 6-3.

Aggie Joao Pinho easily made it to the second round of play defeating Mark Lindley of Weber State, 6-1, 6-2. He was then beaten by Hand. Fellow Aggie Kevin Stanworth also made it to the second round of play defeating Trevor Thompson of WSU, 6-2, 6-1. Stanworth was then eliminated in two sets by Charlie Yemm of Colorado, 6-1, 6-1.

In consolation play Dantley Young of USU defeated teammate Brian Ballum, 6-3, 6-2. Young was later eliminated by Kaufold of BYU, 6-4, 6-2.

The invitational features teams from BYU, Boise State, Colorado, Montana State, Utah State and Weber State. Play will conclude Saturday afternoon.
