Utah State Gymnastics Fell To Denver And Kentucky Saturday

Final Stats

LOGAN, Utah - Sophomore Alex Martin tied her season high on floor, but it was not enough as Utah State Gymnastics fell in a tri-meet to Denver and Kentucky with a 194.550 here Saturday. The 16th ranked Aggies fell to 5-8 while 22nd ranked Kentucky (12-9) won the meet with a 195.375 and 17th ranked Denver (13-7) finished second with a 195.250. It was the first time in six meets that USU was unable to score above a 195.

Martin tied for fourth on floor with a 9.850 as she returned to her home state of Colorado. Redshirt sophomore Jessica Parenti was the only Aggie to have a top-three finish as she tied for third on bars with a 9.775.

Kentucky's Krystle Cook stole the show as she won all three events she competed in. She topped everyone on vault (9.925), bars (9.825) and floor (9.900). Denver's Heather Huffaker won the all-around with a 39.200.

Both Utah State and Denver were unable to garner scores to help their Regional Qualifying Scores (RQS) while Kentucky was able to benefit from its first away score above 195.000 this season.

USU heads to the Western Gymnastics Conference against host CS Fullerton, Boise State and Southern Utah, Friday, March 25 at 6 p.m. This is the final meet USU will have that will count towards qualifying for Regionals.
