UTAH STATE'S WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM BEATS WEBER STATE

OGDEN, Utah--Jill Smith led Utah State's women's tennis team to a close 4-3 victory over Weber State on Tuesday afternoon in Ogden. Smith defeated Alexandra Ilie 7-5, 6-4 to win the number two singles match. Smith was also a part of the number three doubles team with Lauren Monson that won 8-1.

Utah State barley lost its doubles point with Lindsey Bennion and Carolyn Stephens fighting hard to win the number one doubles match, barely loosing to their opponents 9-8.

In singles action, the Aggie's won the middle four matches with the number four and five spots carrying into three sets. Courtney Anderson playing at number four defeated the Wildcats Karla Pretorius 6-7, 7-6, 6-3. Aggie Andrea Barker battled for her victory in the number five singles match, losing the first set 1-6, winning the second 7-5 and taking the third set at 6-3.

The Aggie women improve their season record to 7-8. Uta State will travel to Boise, Idaho to play three matches later this week. The Aggies will play at Boise State on Thursday at 4 p.m. before meeting Gonzaga on Friday at 9:30 a.m. and Lewis and Clark on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. All three matches will take place in Boise.
