LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's tennis team lost 5-2 to Weber State here in Logan Thursday afternoon. With the loss the women fell to 10-11 this spring. In their last meeting with Weber State the Aggies beat the Wildcats 4-3 in Ogden.
Utah State started by winning the No. 1 doubles match, but lost at No. 2 and 3 to lose the doubles point to Weber State. In singles play the Aggies pushed the Wildcats to three sets in two of their four losses.
Lindsey Bennion fought hard at the No. 1 singles spot. Bennion took the first set 6-3, lost the second set 3-6, and led almost the entire third set before falling 6-4.
Carolyn Stephens won the No. 2 spot, beating Chelsee Drews 6-3, 6-1. Courtney Anderson won the Aggies second point as she battled for the No. 4 spot against Gabriela Venditto. Anderson took the first set 6-1. After a hard fought loss in the second set, 6-7, she came back to win the third set 6-1. Anderson now leads the team this spring with a 13-4 record.
The Aggies will play their last regular season match Monday, April 18 against Idaho State. The match will be played at The Sports Academy and Raquet Club located at 1655 N. 200 East and will begin at 1:30 p.m.
