LOGAN, Utah - Utah State gymnastics finished its second intrasquad meet of the week with a leading performance from Meagan Lewis on Thursday, Dec. 7, in the HPER gym on the USU campus.

The Aggies performed routines on three of four events, leaving out the vault where the team feels they are most comfortable. Heather Heinrich, Katie Omann, Katy Schilla and Megan Tschida all showed a lot of improvement with consistent performances in all three events. The team had strong points in the floor exercise and on the balance beam.

"We showed a big improvement from earlier this week," head coach Ray Corn said. "We still have some things to work out, but as long as we keep up with conditioning we will be ready for the season."

Many of the gymnasts are still recovering from injury. Ashley Barr has been training for five months out of ACL surgery and Alex Martin is coming off a finger injury, which she sustained in November. Kelly Patterson has been out of practice after surgery on her ankle and Morgan Rezac has been recovering from sickness. Each gymnast is expected to be fully recovered and ready for the start of the season in January.

Utah State will finish its preseason schedule with its final tune-up on Dec. 16 at 11:30 a.m. in room 211 of the HPER building on campus. The Aggies will open their season on the road at Sacramento State on Jan. 7 and at Washington on Jan. 12, before hosting their season opener on Jan. 22 against BYU at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
