LOGAN, Utah-- - Utah State's women's tennis team defeated the Mesa State Mavericks on Friday afternoon here in Logan. After beating Mesa State 7-0 the Aggies improve to 4-6 this spring season.

The Aggies started off strong winning all three doubles matches to take the doubles point. At the No. 1 spot in doubles Lindsey Bennion and Andrea Barker defeated Teri Mayeda and Morgan Sawyer 8-2.

Utah State stayed strong going into singles matches where they won all six matches against the Mavericks. Leading the Aggies at the No. 1 spot in singles senior Lindsey Bennion defeated Teri Mayeda 6-2, 6-2. At the No. 2 spot Jill Smith defeated Morgan Sawyer 6-1, 6-3. Leading the Aggies in total wins in singles Courtney Anderson took the No. 3 spot defeating Kelsey Bottineilli 6-1, 6-0. Not allowing a single point Lauren Monson shutout Miranda Kettle at the No. 6 spot 6-0, 6-0.

"It was a good match with a lot of effort put in by our team," said head coach Christian Wright. "Hopefully we will be able to play this strong on Saturday against Northern Colorado and get another win."

The Aggies will be in action again here in Logan against Northern Colorado on Saturday, February 25 at 1 p.m. The match will be played at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club.
