LOGAN, Utah- - Utah State's women's tennis team defeated Northern Colorado here in Logan Saturday afternoon 6-1. The women improved to 5-6 for the spring season.

Utah State opened by winning all three doubles matches against Northern Colorado to get the doubles point. Lindsey Bennion and Andrea Barker had a close win at the No. 1spot defeating Meredith Krystofik and Christina Shelly 9-7. At the No. 3 spot Courtney Anderson and Dee-Dee Nelson haD success in a 8-1 win over Renee Nuccio and Karen Groll.

The Aggies won five of their six singles matches with Lindsey Bennion at the No. 1 spot defeating Karen Groll 6-2, 7-5. The Aggies had a lot of close matches in singles but were able to pull out with wins. Dee-Dee Nelson won with a tie-breaker at the No. 4 spot defeating Christina Shelly 6-7, 7-5, 6-4. Andrea Barker finished strong at the No. 5 spot defeating Carmen Vasos 6-2, 6-1 and Lauren Monson took the No. 6 spot defeating Kellie Crail 6-3, 6-2.

Utah State's women's tennis team will return to action on March 2 against Nevada. The match will begin at 1 p.m. and will be played at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club.
