POCATELLO, Idaho - Utah State's women's tennis team improved to 3-5 on its spring season with a 7-0 win against Idaho State at Reed Gym Tuesday afternoon.

Utah State opened the competition by winning two of the three doubles matches as Jill Smith and Lauren Monson recorded an 8-3 win, and Dee-Dee Nelson and Courtney Anderson recorded a 9-8 win to give the Aggies a 1-0 lead in the match.

Lindsey Bennion continued the momentum for Utah State with a win at No. 1 singles in three sets (6-4, 2-6, 6-0) against Denise Cockrell. USU would go on to win the five remaining matches in singles competition as Smith, Anderson, Andrea Barker and Monson all recorded straight set wins, while Nelson won her match at No. 4 singles in three sets.

"That was our seventh match in 12 days, and I was really pleased with the way we played today," said USU head coach Christian Wright. "After having some close matches in doubles play, everybody did a great job in their singles matches. It was just a really good effort considering how much tennis we've played in the last two weeks."

Utah State's women's team will return to action on Thur., Feb. 16 when it hosts Weber State at 2 p.m. at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club.
