SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -
For the second straight match, Utah State's women's tennis team found the going rough against a former Big West foe as the Aggies lost at Cal Poly 7-0 on Friday afternoon. On Thursday, the Aggies dropped a 7-0 decision at UC Santa Barbara.
Carolyn Anderson came the closest to recording a singles victory for Utah State as she pushed her number three singles match to a tie-breaker. Anderson won the first set 6-4 against Carol Erickson. However, Erickson responded by winning the second set 6-4 and then won the tie-breaker 10-0.
In doubles action, Anderson teamed with Dee Dee Nelson to win at number two by an 8-5 score, but Cal Poly won the other two matches to take the doubles point.
Utah State will return to the courts on Thursday when the Aggies play at Weber State at 2 p.m. Earlier this year Weber State edged USU 4-3. The Aggies are now 6-10 on the season.
