BOISE, Idaho - Utah State's women's tennis team saw its 2006 season come to an end with a 4-0 loss against Boise State in the first round of the Western Athletic Conference Championships here on Thursday.
The Aggies, who were the seventh seed in the tournament, dropped to 8-15 on the season. Boise State, which was the tournament's second seed and ranked 61st in the nation, advanced to the semifinals and will meet New Mexico State on Friday.
Boise State gained the doubles point with a pair of 8-0 victories at number one and number three doubles. BSU then claimed three singles matches to give the Broncos four of the possible seven available team points. Jill Smith lost at number two 6-1, 6-3 and Andrea Barker lost 6-2, 6-2 at the fifth spot.
