LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's DJ Smith clinched first place in the 200-meters with an NCAA Regional provisional qualifying mark of 20.96, the third fastest mark in Utah State outdoor history at 20.96. The Aggies had eight first-place finishes in its own Mark Faldmo Invitational. Teams competing were BYU, Idaho State, Southern Utah, Utah, and Weber.

"There's nothing like home cooking," said track coach Gregg Gensel. "We love to run on our home turf and we had a great day."

Smith's teammate, Cedric Young, also had a provisional qualifying mark in the 200-meters with a time of 21.39. Junior Scott Bell had a personal best mark and a provisional qualifying mark in the 400-meter hurdles (51.32) coming in second place. Bell also captured second in the 110-meter hurdles with a provisional qualifying mark of 14.39.

Sophomore Kathryn Duhadway captured first place in the women's pole vault with a mark of 3.81m (12-06.00). Senior Kristen Guymon clinched first place in the 800-meters (2:10.71) with teammate Jill Steele coming in third place with a time of 2:12.13.

Jennifer Twitchell placed first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:35.63). Stacie Lifferth came in first place in the 5,000-meters with a time of 18:22.37.

"The distance runners were really solid and all the runners ran really well," said Gensel.

The Aggies head to UC Irvine on Friday, Apr. 28, and Saturday, Apr. 29.
