LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis fought hard against Montana State Saturday at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club, but lost 5-2, evening the Aggies' spring record at 1-1.
The match began with a good start when sisters Lauren and Erin Monson won the first doubles match at the number one spot, 9-7. Montana State came back and won the next two matches, earning the doubles point.
Senior Courtney Anderson led the Aggies at the number one spot and defeated MSU's Nicole Luetolf, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Scoring the second team point, freshman Brianna Harris defeated Remy Clark in two sets, 6-3, 6-0. Dee-Dee Nelson played at the number three spot, but retired due to an injury.
"We knew it was going to be a tough match," said USU head coach Chris Wright. "The girls fought really hard."
The Aggies will be back in action Thurs., Feb. 1 against Boise State. The match will begin at 1 p.m. at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club and is free to the public.
