Aggie Women Roll To 92-53 Exhibition Win Against Utah Pride

LOGAN, Utah - Senior forward Jamelah Brown (Phoenix, Ariz.) scored a game-high 17 points and added a team-high six rebounds to help Utah State notch a convincing 92-53 exhibition win against Utah Pride here at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum Wednesday night.

Junior guard Danyelle Snelgro (Altadena, Calif.) added 12 points and eight assists for Utah State, while senior forward Jenny Gross (Caldwell, Idaho) scored 12 points as well in the win. In all, 14 players saw action for Utah State, including nine who played at least 10 minutes.

Former BYU player Jennifer Leitner led Utah Pride with 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while former Salt Lake Community College player Laurie Crocker scored 13 points and former BYU player Cady Williams added 12 points.

Brown scored six points for Utah State in the first six minutes as Utah State opened the game with a 13-2 run. Utah Pride cut the lead to five at 20-15 with 7:18 remaining in the half, before USU ended the opening period on a 20-6 run to take a 40-21 lead into the break.

Utah State shot 43.2 percent from the field (16-37) in the opening period and held Utah Pride to a 26.9 shooting percentage (7-26). Brown led all scorers at the break with 11 points.

Leading 53-28 midway through the second-half, Utah State used a 14-2 run to extend its lead to 67-30 with just under 12 minutes to play. Utah Pride cut the lead to 29 at 70-41 with 6:12 to play, but could get no closer as USU ended the game with a 12-4 run to notch the 39-point win.

Utah State finished the game by shooting 48.1 percent from the field (37-77), including 52.5 percent shooting in the second-half (21-40). Utah Pride shot just 38.8 percent from the field (19-49) and just 23.1 percent from three-point range (3-13).

Utah State will conclude its preseason on Saturday, Nov. 3 when it hosts NAIA College of Idaho at 5 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. USU then opens its season on Friday, Nov. 9 at home against Pacific at 5 p.m.
