PROVO, Utah - Despite a season high road score, Utah State gymnastics fell to BYU and Oregon State by a score of 194.675-195.125-195.375 here on Friday night.

The score of 194.675 will replace a 190.000 road score that the Aggies posted in their first meet of the season at Sacramento State, which will improve their regional qualifying score and may improve USU's national ranking.

"I am not displeased at all," head coach Ray Corn said. "We had to count a fall on beam, as well as Oregon State, and BYU had a clean meet."

Despite the loss, the Aggies had many bright spots during the night. USU won the floor exercise as a team with a 49.125, the second highest team floor score on the season for the Aggies. USU also posted a season high team score of 49.000 on the vault.

"We put on a floor show that was absolutely unbelievable," Corn said. "We didn't seize up at all, everyone fought to the finish."

Meagan Lewis tied for first on the floor with Dayna Smart of BYU, each scored a 9.875. Jessica Parenti-Otte finished second on beam with a 9.800 and tied for second on bars with a 9.825 which resulted in a six-way tie.

In the all-around, Parenti-Otte finished second with a 39.275, Lewis finished fourth with a 39.050 and Devin Markle finished with a 38.900.

"It is now time to rest and relax and get ready for Minnesota," Corn said. "It is a meet that we need to win."

The Aggies will return to action when they host Minnesota in their final home meet of the season on Saturday, Mar. 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
