LOGAN, Utah - Utah State women's tennis shut out Idaho State, 7-0, on Tuesday in USU's last home match of the season at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club. The win was the Aggies' third in a row as USU evened its record at 7-7.
The Monson sisters, Erin and Lauren, added another win to their record at No. 1 doubles, topping ISU's Katherine Zigars and Valerie Espinosa, 8-6. This match was their last time playing together at home before Lauren graduates this May. Also graduating and playing their final home matches were seniors Courtney Anderson and Erin Crane. Anderson currently holds a 9-3 singles record at No. 1, after battling Lisel Lewis, 6-1, 6-0.
"It was the last home match for the seniors and it was emotional for everyone," USU head coach Christian Wright said. "We sent the seniors out with a solid 7-0 win. Everyone put up a good effort and we were really upbeat today."
The Aggies' next action will be against Boise State on Thurs., April 12 at 3 p.m. as they head to Boise for three matches. USU will also face New Mexico State on Friday at 9:30 a.m. and Portland on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
