DENVER, Colo. - Utah State gymnastics finished sixth with a team score of 192.525 at the NCAA North Central Regional Championships here on Saturday.

The Aggies were led by senior Meagan Lewis scoring a 38.600 in the all-around with a meet high score of 9.800 on the floor.

USU scored a 48.000 or better on vault, bars and floor, with a low score of 47.725 on beam, while having to count two falls. The Aggies high score of the meet came on vault with a score of 48.475, led by Devin Markle's 9.775.

"We stayed on the equipment, but at this level staying on is not enough," head coach Ray Corn said. "It is the little things that you don't get done that end up hurting you."

Georgia won the meet in convincing fashion with a team score of 197.275, with Denver placing in a distant second with a team score of 195.825. Georgia had at least two individuals place in the top of each event.

"We got caught up in watching stars on the other teams," Corn said. "We forgot that we have stars of our own."

Ashley Barr led the Aggies on bars with a 9.725, Nicki Felley led on beam with a 9.750 and Lewis led on floor with a 9.800.

In the all-around, Lewis finished ninth, Heather Heinrich finished in 10th with a 38.450, Felley finished 12th with a 38.375 and Jessica Parenti-Otte finished 15th with a 38.025.

"In the future we can't move in and out of the regional championships," Corn said. "We must make ourselves a permanent team at the regional meet."

The Aggies will now rest for the summer before training begins in the fall for the 2008 season.
